Thermography and Your Hormones: Can a Thermal Scan Reflect Hormonal Imbalances?

April Beaman • June 18, 2025

While a full 80% of women experience hormonal imbalances at some point in their lives, 70% of them are unaware of what is causing the issues. We have good news for those who believe they may be part of those statistics: You don't have to continue without answers! There are simple, practical steps you can take to uncover whether you're experiencing shifts in hormone levels, and thermography for hormone imbalance could be the best first step in your health journey.

Signs of Hormonal Imbalances

Hormonal imbalances can take many different forms and vary from woman to woman. Still, certain symptoms tend to be common, including:

  • Persistent weight gain
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Night sweats and hot flashes
  • Pelvic pain
  • Hair loss
  • Fatigue

Of course, these issues aren’t always caused by hormone fluctuations. Sometimes, lifestyle habits or other health factors can lead to similar effects. When symptoms persist without a clear explanation, however, it may be time to take a closer look.

Fortunately, scheduling thermography for hormone imbalance is one of the simplest, least invasive ways to discover early indicators of what might be happening beneath the surface.

What Thermography Screenings Show

As the word thermography indicates, thermography screenings use an infrared camera to detect differences in heat patterns emitted by the human body. These heat differences are then captured in color-coded images, which a trained professional can use to detect the potential for certain medical conditions, including inflammation and infections.

The benefits of a thermography screening are that they are quick, painless, and non-invasive. Most screenings take around ten minutes, and if no trouble spots are uncovered, you will not need to seek any further screenings or treatments. However, if a medical thermographer identifies an abnormality in the heat patterns, they will be able to discuss with you the possible factors that may be at the root and recommend the next steps you can take.

So while thermography screenings aren't a direct hormone test, they can reveal clues that point toward solutions.

Common Issues Revealed in Thermography for Hormone Imbalance Screenings

Hormonal changes are visible in the body's heat patterns.

For example, high estrogen levels can increase blood flow in breast tissue. That increased blood flow produces a rise in heat, which shows up clearly on a thermal scan.  Additionally, an overactive thyroid gland (a gland directly involved in producing hormones) might show up as a warm area on a thermogram.

While thermography isn't a direct hormone test, it might give clues that point toward some of the more common hormonal issues:

  • Estrogen Dominance - Abnormally high estrogen levels can cause symptoms ranging from irregular periods to breast pain to irregular sleep patterns to weight gain and fatigue.
  • Thyroid Overactivity - An overactive thyroid can produce symptoms including mood swings, difficulty sleeping, sensitivity to heat, nervousness, and anxiety.
  • Hormonal-related Inflammation -  The link between chronic inflammation and hormone imbalance is well-established. Symptoms include digestive issues, mood swings, irregular menstrual cycles, fatigue, and weight gain.

If you recognize the symptoms in the above list from your own experiences, it could be that you're dealing with some level of hormonal imbalances.

To move forward in your health journey, consider booking a quick, non-invasive thermal scan to uncover early indicators and receive personalized guidance from a trained professional.
