Breast Cancer Awareness - Thermography Aiding in Early Detection

We all know someone that's had breast cancer, probably someone close to us. The stats tell us about 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. While that's a scary thought, advances in screenings can help with early detection.

CT Thermography offers breast thermography as an additional health screening tool to help aid in detection. Learning more about thermography and its benefits can assist women in making the best choices for their overall health.

What is Thermography?

Thermography is a radiation-free, infrared picture that can show changes in the breast years before it becomes cancerous. Increased blood flow will show up on a thermogram as being a "warmer" area. When cancerous cells begin to grow they generate additional blood flow that will show up as hot spots. Any changes in the scan should be followed up and investigated further.

Thermography is a great tool for younger women. Diagnosis of breast cancer can be more difficult as younger women have denser breast tissue and traditional screenings aren't usually recommended until age forty. Thermography is a safe method to fill the gap before traditional breast screening methods are needed.

What to Expect

A thermography screening is non-invasive, not painful, and quick. You'll just stand in front of the thermal camera.  Unlike other traditional breast cancer screenings, thermography is radiation-free.  Following your screening,  a report will be generated within a few days for you to review with your doctor. If further investigation is necessary, it will be noted in the report.
