Continual observation of changes to your breasts is the leading method of detection and prevention of all breast diseases. Thermography is a 100% safe, risk-free tool you and your doctor can use to monitor your breast health. The non-invasive test uses a specially equipped camera; there is no radiation exposure, no uncomfortable compression, and no other related health risks to the procedure. CT Thermography offers complete state-of-the-art breast thermography screenings that include seven images of the chest, breast, and axillary regions.

Breast thermography is a non-invasive, non-radiating procedure that detects the heat produced by blood circulation and metabolic changes in the breast and the underlying tissue. While it does not detect tumors directly, it does allow doctors to monitor variations in your breast tissue that may signal precancerous conditions. If you are genetically at-risk or carry markers for breast cancer or masses, your doctor may recommend thermography as a method of determining the baseline structure and condition of your breast tissue. A regular schedule of thermography is particularly useful for younger women with dense breast tissue or those with a history of fibroids.

Unlike mammography, thermography uses infrared imagery and does not involve the pressure and discomfort of a typical mammogram. Difficulty in performing and reading mammograms can occur in women with breast augmentation, those on hormone replacement therapy, or those who are nursing and those with dense breast tissue . Hormonal changes and menstruation cycles do not affect the results of the thermographic procedure. Although thermography does not replace mammography, it does provide vital information to your doctor when mammograms cannot be completed or inconclusive.

Thermography should be used hand-in-hand as a monitoring device with other detection procedures. Consult with your physician to determine the best methods of monitoring your breast health and contact CT Thermography for information on breast thermography.
